An initiative by OpenLink, aimed at educating young minds at using technology in the modern business environment.I teach databases and spreadsheets to 7th and 8th grade sections, using Raspberry Pi's. I am responsible for the students' curriculums, and teach them with easy and relatable examples, and fun group activities. The whole class worked as if it were a startup, where students were divided in groups, and had to consult each other's teams for projects. It cultivated accountability and camaraderie ship. The students presented issues that they faced, and were made to research about how companies have tackled such issues and how they can implement the same solutions in their activities. The highlight of our semester-long efforts would be in the form of the students being able to write full length SQL queries and put together their own databases in LibreOffice.Those from the spreadsheets class were trained in using complex Excel functions such as V Lookups, If Statements, Pivot Tables, basic mathematical calculations, conditional formatting, charts and visualizations. The students are responsible for their Raspberry Pi's, which need more tending to, than our everyday computers. (Raspberry Pi's are inexpensive card board sized computers running a Unix distribution)Apart from the technical learning, this is going to help them be more responsible as they grow up (because not everybody gets to use a Macbook, an iPad, and an iPhone as their primary, secondary and tertiary office).The class is oriented towards not only educating them about technology, but also about working in groups and being responsible towards their goals and about skills that they would need as individuals in our ever expanding universe.

As part of the Hofstra Information Technology Association (Graduate level), we worked on a project for Open Link financial.- Our aim was to find out Action Drivers that were responsible for the client's Net Promoter Score- This was the first instance that we had to deal with realize data, which had several undulations and anomalies. We learnt that one of the biggest part of a job in data science would be data preparation.It was a very exciting project, which helped us gain a nice life experience about data analytics and its application. It was the first non academic project that required us to apply what we had learnt in our courses. Our client were happy with our work and so were we.

Our faculty advisor, Dr. James Neelankavil, who has been at Hofstra for almost two decades uses his expertise and knowledge to get external clients, and in assisting member consultants, who're usually inexperienced but highly motivated.This semester, I am working with Vassel Designs on the launch of a Lacrosse product.I am working as part of a two member team, and we are work on the market research, competitor analysis, supplier and logistic information.Since I co-found a sports goods export company in Mumbai, I am applying that insight towards advising my client, and ensuring my best performance.We are benefiting our friendship with the Hofstra Men's Lacrosse team and using their valuable feedback in ensuring a proper product.

Our goal is to celebrate the Indian culture on the beautiful campus at Hofstra, with our family of students from all over the world.We celebrate Diwali and Holi, and try to impart the underlying significance of these festivals. We also plan events to welcome new students in the Business Schools, and get them acquainted with the campus and its beautiful occupants. We show them around New York City, take them to Broadway shows, visit Central Park, and then finish each academic year by going to Six Flags!We also invite revered guest speakers from various industries and backgrounds and try to inspire ourselves and our members.We are good friends with the other Graduate Student Organizations, and partner with them on various events which none of us can manage single handedly. We have a semester long trading competition with the Hofstra Investment Banking Association.
