Arab Hoballah serves, since May 2023 as Senior SCP Expert for the EU SWITCH-Asia Pacific programme, and since August 2021, as Executive Director, SEED-Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Development, aimed at providing tailored support to eco-inclusive MSMEs with adequate policy frameworks, as key contribution to the transition to green and circular economy, through resource efficiency and SCP. He was Team Leader, EU SWITCH-Asia SCP Facility, covering 24 Asian Countries with basis in Bangkok, 2017-2021. He was also Executive Director of SEED, Eco-Inclusive Entrepreneurship, March-September 2017, and Senior Sustainability Expert from January to September 2017. From 2005 to 2016, he was Chief of Sustainable Consumption and Production/SCP in UNEP, where he looked for mainstreaming Resource Efficiency and SCP policies at local, national, regional and global levels, through various sectors, various tools and methodologies and relevant partnerships in close cooperation with governments, business and industry, civil society. A major outcome of this work is the 10YFP, the 10 Year Framework of Programmes on SCP, adopted at Rio+20. Prior to this post, he spent 14 years working in the UNEP Regional Seas programme as Deputy Director of the Blue Plan & Deputy Coordinator of the Mediterranean Action Plan (MAP). He established and managed the Mediterranean Commission on Sustainable Development, assisted several countries in developing sustainable development strategies and coastal areas management plans. Prior to 1991, he worked for several institutions in developing countries.
