My passion has always been studying and learning about science, especially about all the new advances in medicine and patient care. My goal has been to work as a Registered Nurse and I was able to use my communication skills as the admitting front desk volunteer at St. Joseph Hospital. In this position I often had to give detailed directions on how to locate a specific department or locate a floor and would also use my interpersonal skills to help ease patients checking in for procedures. While working as a lead manager, I worked alongside my team to organize and execute store events while engaging customers to ensure customer satisfaction. While interning, I established rapport with heads of community centers to help engage community involvement for public health fairs. In all of my experiences, I helped multiple people of the LEP community by addressing concerns and providing clarity in misunderstandings they may have received from English documents such as public health flyer, store event announcements and simply map directions around the hospital. While my experience in Medical Interpretation and Translation has been primarily in doctor's offices for family appointments, I have been able to strengthen my Spanish medical knowledge through the course I took at Santa Ana College alongside two semesters of Medical Terminology.
