Why do some people Skydive? For the Challenge? The Adrenaline? The Freedom? In pursuit of understanding why I was paying what I considered a mini fortune to attain a skydiving license, I recognized how these factors were actually always behind my most meaningful life experiences. The Challenge. Whether it international rugby national team tournaments, climbing to the highest point in Africa, or balancing an engineering degree with 2 part time jobs, I find challenges quite fueling. And right now, I feel like utilizing technology to simplify operational hassles in core industries that serve our intrinsic human necessities looks like the challenge I would love to dominate. The Adrenaline. The so-called fight or flight hormone, actually happens to share the name epinephrine, with the happy hormone, dopamine. As a former boxer this makes perfect sense to me. What’s worthy in life, but doesn’t require a fight? Doesn’t require consistent effort and persistence? Very arguably; nothing at all. Which is why I'm always chasing experiences that do not just come easy, but require consistent discipline and grit. The Freedom. My personal favorite. Not in the liberation that comes with supposedly having no boundaries, but rather the unshaken belief that no matter the boundaries, I will reach my destination. All the destinations I have been to, taught me the following about myself:- I simplify complex hassles into efficient systems.- I love cracking a challenge, but showing the team what we are capable of means a lot more.- Intuition is valuable, but I choose to fight using data.- I excel at executing big ideas, especially within boundaries.- I am constantly listening because you can always teach me something new. Here’s to meeting new people and learning about new perspectives.
