As a Safety Specialist at UCAN, a nonprofit organization that empowers youth and families to overcome trauma and build resilience, I apply my skills and knowledge in volunteering, substance abuse prevention, and administration to support the safety and well-being of the staff and clients. I have been working at UCAN since August 2020, and I have contributed to the development and implementation of safety policies, procedures, and training, as well as the coordination and communication of safety-related issues and incidents. I also have over eight years of experience as a Social Worker at Featherfist, a nonprofit agency that provides housing and supportive services to homeless and at-risk individuals and families. There, I helped clients access resources, navigate systems, and achieve their goals, while also advocating for their rights and dignity. I hold a BFA in Substance Abuse/Addiction Counseling from Governors State University, where I graduated in August 2019. I am passionate about helping people overcome challenges, heal from trauma, and live fulfilling lives. I am committed to learning, growing, and collaborating as a Safety Specialist and a Social Worker.
