Aram works as an Advocacy Advisor for OSF in Latin American and the Caribbean. In the past, he worked in various capacities for a diversity of civil society organizations around citizen security, sexual and reproductive rights, young people & drug policy reform. In 2013, Aram helped bring to Mexico’s Supreme Court a case on access to cannabis, and in 2015 he was plaintiff in a legal writ resulting in a historic ruling against prohibition.Aram has consulted for the Senate of Mexico and for the Joint UN Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS). In recent years at Open Society, he focused & worked on citizen participation, democracy, citizen security and justice, and 'homicide reduction', as well as the #InstintoDeVida campaign. Aram holds a BA in international studies, and a master's degree in public policy (MPP) and in public administration (MPA) from New York University (NYU) and University College London (UCL).I pursue meaningful work that helps defend and advance democracy as a way for development, justice, inclusion, freedom & equality. To this end, I am committed to turn progressive ideas into policy that delivers for the people, through open dialogue and by engaging a strategic range of political actors and media platforms as a proved advocate.
