Been with the McCarthy motor group for the past thirty two years. Applied for a position as a training manager, Was appointed as parts sales person, The position I applied for was reserved for the privilege few ( job reservation )With in a year I was promoted to Parts manager at Forsdick BMW Germiston.Have been a loyal servant for the group. Served in various franchises BMW, Land-Rover , VolvoToyota, Peugeot, Citroen, and currently with Volkswagen. It is great to work for such a big organisation.There's advantages definitely disadvantages. For twenty five years I've been in middle management.During my reign as parts manager for BMW I won a top managers award five times it came with lovely rewards such as overseas destinations for your self and spouse.However good times comes to an end at some stage. New ventures, franchises get sold and so does certain dealerships.In this enormous group there has been many opportunities but if you do not know an insider the chance is very slim you will get the post/ position.With twenty five years as a franchise parts manager and seven years plus motor vehicle sales its time for me to move on.At this stage of my career would like to get back into the parts game even it means to leave the group.

  Started out as a senior parts sales person. With in a short period was promoted to Parts manager.I served Forsdick's BMW for twenty two years. Was involved with the design start up of the new dealership at No 1 President street Germiston. At the dealership we had great success.With my team we grew the parts sales from turnover of 150k to 1.5million in a time span of fifteen years. I served with great leaders such as GODFREY PAYET & BRAND PRETORIUS.during my reign as parts manager I won numerous parts managers awards with lucrative prizes and trips.As time went on BMW had plans and visions The McCarthy group lost about ten dealerships with the new BEE initiative.I applied my trade with other franchises in the group LAND ROVER, VOLVO , PEUGEOT, CITROEN, TOYOTA & VW .With Brian Joffe Buying and selling franchises and venturing in lucrative deals.I moved from franchise to franchise within the McCarthy group.I had to venture into the sales sector to retain my job within the group.So in summary : have been with the group for thirty two years plus twenty five years as a very successful Parts Manager and seven years plus motor vehicle sales new and used..The group is stable benefits great but as a level seven BEE GROUP McCarthys Suck.There has been numerous positions available in the past six to seven years.I have applied for as I know I meet the criteria but if you do not have a report with the hiring manager or the HR of that division your chances is zero. You don't even make to an interview.Job reservation and nepotism is very rive in this group and if your a person of colour it is very unlikely you will get into the management structures of this group.My prospective is first hand as I have been with the group for THIRTY TWO YEARS.
