The National Federation of the Dutch Calisthenics league, facilitates, develops and innovates the athletes and potential talent for calisthenics. We seek to educate the fitness professionals and collaborate with several parties in order to lift up the society and introduce calisthenics in their lifestyle.

It started from a small team to a giant world wide active group. De Koninklijke Nederlandse Krachtsport en Fitnessfederatie is in 1903 opgericht als Nederlandse Krachtsport Bond. De belangrijkste taak van de toenmalige NKB was het organiseren van krachtsportwedstrijden in Nederland. Tegenwoordig behartigd de KNKF onder de naam ‘KrachtsportNL’ de gezamenlijke belangen van krachtsporters in Nederland. KrachtsportNL bevordert een doelmatig sportbeleid en stimuleert de krachtsport als geheel.Ter ere van het vijftigjarig bestaan van de NKB kreeg de bond in 1954 het predikaat “Koninklijk” en ging de organisatie vanaf dat moment verder als de Koninklijke Nederlandse Krachtsport Bond. Vanaf de oprichting waren de sporten worstelen en gewichtheffen binnen de krachtsportbond ondergebracht. In de jaren zeventig is daar het powerliften aan toegevoegd.In 1999 kreeg de KNKB een andere dimensie door de aansluiting van een drietal nieuwe krachtsporten. Deze sporten, die als zelfstandig opererende krachtsportbonden georganiseerd waren, konden profiteren van de erkende status van de KNKB. Voor de KNKB betekende de aansluiting van deze bonden een aanzienlijke groei in het totaal aantal leden.In navolging van de aansluiting van deze nieuwe bonden werd besloten de drie bestaande secties van de KNKB: worstelen, gewichtheffen en powerliften te verzelfstandigen tot een drietal bonden en de overkoepelende krachtsportbond om te vormen tot een krachtsportfederatie: een federatief verband van vijf krachtsportbonden. Op 1 januari 1999 was de Koninklijke Nederlandse Krachtsport en fitnessfederatie een feit.De koepel van de krachtsporten werd op 1 januari 2002 compleet door de aansluiting van de Nederlandse touwtrek Bond. Hiermee was de bundeling van krachten in Nederlandse krachtsport compleet geworden. Alle krachtsporten in Nederland zijn binnen de KNKF verenigd en de KNKF is de enige organisatie in Nederland op het gebied van krachtsport.
