The Careers Advisory Centre (CAC) is a nonprofit organization that seeks to empower high school students by providing them with information that will help them make informed decisions about their education plans, career choices and life as whole. Our activities are concentrated in rural Kenya and in disadvantaged environments like slums and marginalized areas to help them realize that they can attain a better quality of life regardless of their background. We are committed to helping our youth make better choices in life.We do this by organizing Career days, Career fairs and providing mentorship opportunities through which different professionals can inspire/mentor young people by sharing their stories; how they started, the journey and how they got to where they are. We want to help a new generation start their own journey so that they too can tell their stories of success. We believe that it is such opportunities that will expand the youth’s vision of their potential, encourage them to set personal academic/career goals and help them identify pathway to reaching these goals and make informed career choices.CAC also assists students to get formal mentorship opportunities covering issues like career guidance, life skills and internship placement for students during school holidays through our broad networking. Through practical placements and work experience, students can further understand the many opportunities that lay ahead of them and may also develop new interests which may be beneficial to their future decisions and careers. CAC also facilitates opportunities for individuals and institutions to ‘adopt’ students/schools they can support.
