About Arcelia Gallardo

I have been in the chocolate industry for 20 years- first as an educator on the history of chocolate, then as a chocolatier with a store in Berkeley, California, and now as a chocolate maker in São Paulo, Brazil. I work directly with cocoa producers and coops in the Amazon and Atlantic Rainforest, source wild and native ingredients for my chocolates and make the most awarded chocolate in Brazil. I teach indigenous women in Latin America to work with chocolate - in the last ten years I have volunteered in Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Panama, Colombia, and Peru. I am looking forward to opening a store and museum in Los Angeles, California, my birthplace. At the moment I have chosen to be a mother to 3, when they are ready, we will build it together.
