I have the wonderful responsibility of helping my customers navigate the ever-changing landscape of cyber security and the threats that poor security practices can pose to their businesses. Through the course of my career, I have seen cyber security evolve from a niche IT role to a part of everyday life that is talked about in board rooms and the evening news.I chose my major in college because I knew I wanted to work with technology, but I wanted to approach it from the business side of things, not a purely technical aspect. I wanted to understand how technology affects business - both good and bad - and build my career around that. I have a strong passion for what I do and love coming to work every day. The thing I enjoy most about security is that it is always changing and evolving, you never know what challenges lie ahead, so you always must be ready to adapt.I relate a security culture to the safety culture that is prevalent at plants and construction sites. Everyone knows that you must wear a hard hat and be aware of your surroundings to be safe and ensure everyone goes home at the end of the day. Security is so pervasive in today’s world that we need to treat it with this same mindset and attitude – ensuring that it is top of mind for everyone and included in everyone’s responsibility. Part of creating that culture is informing people about the threats that security poses, but also letting them know how they can help and be part of the security team through their actions.I have got an incredible support system with a wonder wife (who is a techie like me), a son (who thinks I am the best hacker in the world), a daughter (who is a self-proclaimed daddy's girl), and two wonderful dogs. Even though I spend all my working time focused on computers and technology, I am an outdoorsman at heart. I love spending my free time outside, especially in the mountains - hiking and being off-grid and unplugged.
