Conducted LA-ICP-MS analyses on Roman silver coins and certified reference materials as part of ERC funded RACOM project with Dr Matthew Ponting and Prof. Kevin Butcher. Also explored the use of negative muon X-ray Emission Spectroscopy with Dr Adrian Hillier. Analysed certified reference materials, developed methodologies for LA-ICP-MS bulk, depth profile and imaging applications. Data processing in LADR and HDIP. Involved problem solving, liaising with instrument engineers and specialists. Equipment included LA-ICP-MS, ICP-MS, Scanning Electron Microscope EDS and Digital/Optical Microscopy. Assisted with capital asset bid writing, equipment evaluation, under/post-graduate teaching, and produced standard operating procedures documents.

Carried out excavation and recording of Iron Age and Romano-British settlement sites in Somerset and Gloucestershire, as well as mapping/ surveying of features using Leica Viva GS15/CS15, and GS07/CS20.

Coordinated delivery of bespoke outreach activities for schools and colleges in the Bristol region. Arranged logistics, timings, and staffing for events. Reviewed delivery and processes, including redesigning of pro forma coordination documents. Designed and created online learning activities (using Xerte website toolkit, edited using CSS and HTML) for school/college students and UWE student ambassadors, and assisted with open days and events. Acted as point of contact for UWE’s branch of Children’s University, managing contact lists, liaising with learning destinations (zoos, sports clubs, museums etc), and members both online and through newsletters.

Carried out measured buildings and topographic surveys, and supported setting out projects using robotic TPS (Leica 1200), laser scanners (Faro Focus 3D, X330), and GPS (Leica 1200 SmartWorx) in the Bristol region. Post processing in Trimble Terramodel, drawing in AutoCAD.

Role involved design, presentation, and peer review of lectures, student assessment, marking and feedback, teaching-facility development. Lectures included Hunter-gatherer archaeology, the Phoenicians, Excavation/Fieldwork, and Archaeological Theory, as well as assisting with Forensics and others.In addition to classroom based lecturing, I provided increased survey and excavation capabilities during the summer excavation modules in 2016-2018 as director of survey and geophysics for the Priddy Environs Project, utilising Leica 405 TPS, Trimble R8 dGPS, Leica C10 TLS, Bartington Grad-601 Magnetometer, and GeoScan RM15 earth resistance meter, with data processing and spatial analysis in Geoplot, CAD, ArcGIS 10.+. Further work involved capital asset bid writing, engaging with community groups and amateur archaeologists, as well as training staff, undergraduate and post-graduates in topographic and measured buildings surveying, geophysical survey, and GIS. I also assisted with the promotion of the university and department online and at open/ offer-holder days.As part of the role, I completed a PG in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, enabling me to gain Fellowship of the HEA/ AdvanceHE

The research aim of my PhD was to identify the source of 118 Mesolithic flint artefacts from the Lower Wye Valley and southern Welsh Marches in order to evaluate previous hypotheses of mobility for the region. This utilised Laser-Ablation Inter-Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) and Machine Learning techniques to geochemically compare the major and trace-element composition of both artefacts and geological samples from across England and Wales. The results enabled far greater accuracy compared with previous studies in Britain, and identified a range of short, medium, and long distance (>200km) movements of raw materials or artefacts throughout the Early and Late Mesolithic, and into the Early Neolithic.LA-ICP-MS data reduction and processing was carried out in Norris Software LADR. Data Science/ ML was carried out in JupyterLab, using Python 3.5 and stored on a Github repository.As part of the project, I completed a PG Cert in Research Methods at the University of Worcester, and a MSc module in GIS and Spatial Analysis at the University of Birmingham.

Carried out buildings and topographic surveys across the country, using robotic TPS, laser scanning (Faro Focus 3D, X330), GPS (using Trimble VRS and Thales and Magellan Promark3 dGPS). Post processing of data inGeoSite, Faro Scene 5.3 and drawing in AutoCAD. In addition to my role, I supervised and trained three junior colleagues, tested equipment and software (providing research documents on this), and conducted asset management and monitoring.

Conducted magnetometry (Bartington Grad-601), earth resistance/ resistivity (GeoScan RM15), and some GPR (Ground Probing Radar) surveys ahead of major infrastructure and housing development projects, as well as small scale investigations ahead of developments. Setting out grids using Leica TPS and dGPS (1200 SmartNet). Projects involved team leading and supervision of junior colleagues.

Assisted on a wide range of projects - large multi-phase excavations of human-remains and associated archaeology at Hereford cathedral, All Saints - West Bromwich, smaller excavation at North Kessock, Ross-shire, watching brief at Hereford cattle market, evaluations at Derby and Norwich, community led project at Eywas Harold, Herefordshire. The latter of which involved supervising volunteers and teaching basic lithic analysis/ identification skills.At Hereford Cathedral, in addition to excavation and recording, I took on responsibility for basic day-to-day surveying at Hereford Cathedral under senior colleagues, ensuring high standards of accuracy during all phases of the project. In the later stages I also processed and organised the storage of human remains on site before post excavation and osteoarchaeological analysis.In addition to site work, post excavation work included finds processing and volunteer supervision, as well as database entry for an EIA project in St Helena.

Received training for Military Training Qualification Level 2 required for all army officers. Involved development of team leadership, time and group management, organisational skills (managing up to platoon level 30 people), combat first aid, communications.
