Secured a placement at the GKN Automotive Innovation Centre in Abingdon where I spent 5 weeks over the course of a year. Learned from and collaborated with professional engineers from various disciplines, gaining insight into the requirements of a multidisciplinary team working towards enhancing sustainability and achieving net-zero targets.Gained understanding of MoTeC, an industry-specific software, and developed a program that utilized sensor data from a training rig to control multiple pumps and valves to manage the flow of liquid through a series of tanks. Learned how Controller Area Network (CAN) networking operates and its suitability for automotive applications. Built a footage logging system for GKN's test rigs and enhanced its capability to stream to any device on their network.
