Roles and Responsibilities - I joined the HSBC Risk Management team as a Manager in Regulatory Reporting. We are a team of over 25 members that handles the global reporting of HSBC's Risk Weighted Assets (RWAs), which is crucial for calculating the bank's Capital Adequacy Ratios in compliance with BASEL III. - The role entails reporting and disclosures of HSBC’s Group RWAs of approx. $850bn, to the Prudential Regulatory Authority of the United Kingdom and the Market as part of the prescribed Pillar-3 requirements. - To achieve this, I work closely with different business and risk teams across the globe, analyzing any changes over $100 million in RWAs on a customer-by-customer basis to verify the accuracy of our reports, while also examining shifts in key risk parameters to ensure they are aligned with business expectations. - I uniquely contribute to the reconciliation and analysis of deviations above $50mn in Assets reported under Financial Reporting and Regulatory Reporting across different regions of HSBC. - I also got the opportunity to assess and analyze the impact of major events like the proposed HSBC's investment and divestments, movements in foreign exchange rates, and economic crisis in countries to ensure that the underlying changes in risk parameters and exposures are accurately recorded. - Further, I initiated and worked on several projects to automate our current processes. Through this role, I was able to enhance and contribute to HSBC's Regulatory Compliances, furthering the faith of the regulator and the market in the Bank’s reporting.
