Worked on a Research Project with Mythos Labs and Oxford Internet Institute to study the proliferation of misinformation in public WhatsApp groups during the roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccine in India. This was part of a larger study evaluating COVID-19 vaccine-related misinformation in Brazil, India, Nigeria and South Africa. Received commendation for work performed during my tenure.- Collected data from various public WhatsApp groups to quantify the presence of misinformation in public WhatsApp groups. - Conducted sentiment analysis of the content in English and regional languages.- Identified COVID-19-related misinformation and studied pro-vaccine interventions through meme-style audio-visual content.

In this position at the Tech and Media programme at ORF. I worked closely with industry stakeholders such as Facebook and Twitter and international organisations such as UNEP, Hedayah, TAT and GIFCT. I was tasked with research projects that studied online radicalization and the role of Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (P/CVE) efforts. My research work also enabled me to explore facets of computational propaganda, digital media, refugee rights, election integrity, and climate resilience. Through my projects, I developed a keen interest in studying online harms, its impact and regulation. - I authored a paper titled 'Countering Disinformation and Hate Speech Online: Regulation and User Behavioural Change' which outlines the regulatory framework and challenges to regulate harmful speech in India. This paper draws solutions and conducts a comparative analysis of global best practices from Australia, France, Germany, Singapore, UK and USA in countering disinformation and hate speech online. https://www.orfonline.org/research/countering-disinformation-and-hate-speech-online/ - I co-authored a research paper that examined the role of e-campaigning on social media platforms and its impact on voter education. We found that uninformed and unethical online narratives often encourage polarization, especially during elections.
