Sharma's primary research interest lies in migration, affordable housing, urban resilience, community-led processes, and sustainable development of future cities.He started pursuing a bachelor of architecture (B.Arch.) at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in 2016. In the fourth year of his undergraduate study, his team represented BUET at Designing Resilience in Asia (DRIA 2020/21). It secured a winning position in the category of "Community and Socially Resilient Design" for their proposal 'Agro.ing City' at Naga City, Philippines. He further explored climate-induced migration and urban resilience in his final year thesis project titled "Arrival City: An Assemblage of Architecture and Infrastructure for Coastal Climate Migrants in Bangladesh."In 2022, he started his professional career as a community architect at Platform of Community Action and Architecture (POCAA). He worked on a project named 'Common ground: Community-led productive garden and learning center' that has been awarded Ar. Barry Will Grant to co-create collective spaces, productive gardens, and waste management systems in Dhaka’s informal settlements, e.g., Gabtoli Sweepers Colony. Additionally, Sharma worked on a housing process with the communities of Kallyanpur Pora Slum envisaged at Singair, Manikganj, and funded by Asian Coalition for Housing Rights (ACHR). He explored internal displacement/migration as a Research Associate at BRAC Business School, BRAC University. Currently, Sharma is working on a research project focusing on child- and youth-friendly city, a collaboration between Cardiff University and Brac University.
