At Capital One, I was focused on Explainable AI (XAI), Responsible AI (RAI), and AI for social good. While on the XAI teams of Applied Research and Applied ML, I was at the forefront of research and development efforts. In parallel to these responsibilities, I co-led the Applied Responsible AI special interest group. Notably, I spearheaded the creation of an RAI framework to guide associates in how to translate RAI principles into product requirements & actionable tasks, bridging the gap between ethical guidelines and tangible execution. Further embracing the role of a community builder at Capital One, I organized an XAI book club, Leveling Up in XAI. With both of these groups, I personally invited & onboarded a very diverse group, encouraging cross-team learning and skill development, thereby fostering a culture of continuous learning.As part of the Data Pro Bono team, I've also had the opportunity to leverage my skills for social impact. In this role, I clustered on SHAP values to enhance client profiling, driving my commitment to using AI for social good. Additionally, I've guided an intern (as a project sponsor within the Technology Incubator Program) in the hands-on application of our RAI framework for this initiative.

I eliminated 80% of the work of my role through automation (while still creating all of the artifacts that non-automation generates) to free up my time to work on other projects and to make it possible for my client to receive requested analytics reports within days instead of weeks.

I built the analytics used by banks to calculate the risk of transactions that analysts used in turn to investigate said transactions.I won the “Finding The Genius” innovation competition open to the entire Financial Crime division. Due to having paid attention to the needs of others, I managed to design a project to meet the needs of several teams, as well as of our clients, through innovation. Execution of this project was expected to speed up development time, allow our account services consultants to build pre-tested analytics, and allowed clients to have solutions to their analytics requests years ahead of schedule.

Having internal clients can often be the best way to grow. There is no more convenient way to receive feedback than from friends sitting 15 feet away. As such, my process after taking guidance from those more experienced than myself, was to experiment, fail fast, receive feedback and repeat.
