Human ingenuity has proven time and time again to be boundless. I am inspired by the brilliant minds around me that each day make great strides in better understanding our world from the smallest of cells to the largest of galaxies. I am a University of Houston Graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology. This degree was thrilling, because I am fascinated by the combining of biology and technological and engineering principles to obtain a desired outcome. Research areas that interest me most are gene therapy applications, such as disease treatment using genetic modifications, AAV-based in vivo gene therapy for neurological disorders, and CRISPR Cas9. I am really intrigued by the prospects of using gold nanoparticles as cancer therapeuticI am a HUGE space enthusiast. My role as a Mission Briefing Officer at Space Center Houston (SCH) involves giving live presentations to hundreds of people at a time about the International Space Station, the Artemis missions, James Webb Space Telescope, and more. Through this position, I discovered my love of learning about the latest scientific endeavors and my ability to explain complex subject matter in a simple way. I am given the unique opportunity to share my passion of science and space with others on regular basis. Learning is a passion of mine. The opportunity to work with innovative and cutting-edge technology and to be on the front-lines of scientific discovery excites me more than anything else. I am especially intrigued by the biotechnological applications in Space Biology. The current research aboard the International Space Station includes protein crystallization in microgravity, effects of microgravity on growth of stem cells, organ 3D Bioprinting, and using gene therapy to increase bone strength in mice.I am a hard worker, a passionate learner, and an aspiring scientist. I look forward to continuing to grow and build on my experience.
