Aref Karim, FCA, Founder and Board Member of Systematic Hedge Fund, Quality Capital Management (QCM), has spent 32 years in the Alternative Investment industry, 13 of which has been on the buy-side of a sovereign institution, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (‘ADIA’), that allocates sizable funds to hedge fund managers worldwide. The last 19 years have been with QCM, the UK company he founded in 1995 that offers wealth-building solutions for investors. Aref is the company’s Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer carrying responsibility for the firm’s investment strategies and research, and is the Chairman of its Board. QCM is a systematic global macro hedge fund manager that invests in a wide array of financial and commodity assets through liquid and regulated futures markets. The philosophy Aref has instituted at QCM revolves around the same principles he also adopted while at ADIA and during his three decades in the hedge fund industry. Prior to ADIA, between 1972 and 1982, Aref worked as Senior Audit Manager at Wood King & Co; Simpson, Bronsell & Co; and Lewis Golden & Co, all Chartered Accountancy firms based in London. These firms have since gone through a series of mergers with other public practices in an industry-wide consolidation.
