As a Landscape Architecture Intern with OHM Advisors, I have had the opportunity to be involved in projects from the initial site inventory and analysis stages to the stages of project submittal and eventual construction. Here I have also been able to work on trail designs and concept development of park designs. In addition, I have also been responsible for attending, presenting, and answering questions within a public forum during city and county meetings. As a Landscape Architecture Intern, I have been able to further develop my skills in not only AutoCAD, but in Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop. These software skills allow me to better create and convey my ideas to communicate them internally as well as to clients. With OHM Advisors, I have also further developed my ability to communicate with those in related professions such as civil engineering, mechanical engineering, architecture, and survey/inspection.

As a teaching assistant, I was the primary contact point for 150 students within an Applications of Environmental and Organismal Biology course. I was also responsible for grading/recording all of the assignments and exams over the course of the semester and leading review sessions before each of the scheduled exams. Over the course of the semester I continued to develop my organizational skills as well as managing my time to balance my responsibilities as both a Teaching Assistant and as a student. I also was able to build skill as a presenter through communication to other students and faculty.

As an Engineering / Landscape Architecture Intern with ROWE Professional Services Company, I was responsible for edits and construction detail development within the Landscape Architecture Department. I was also able to develop concept designs for parks and streetscapes. Through downtown Flint, I was also responsible for assessing sidewalk conditions and compiling a report for the city. In addition to this I was also involved in various sites and field testing throughout the City of Flint. As an Intern with ROWE Professional Services Company, I gained my first experience working within an engineering firm. I gained significant experience with AutoCAD as well as many of the Adobe Products. In addition to what I gained through research in the office, I had the opportunity to apply this knowledge and assist with bridge inspections in many areas throughout lower Michigan.
