Though my professional life has seen some degree of success, I deposit most of my pride on the unschooling of both my sons. That, on its own, shows a lot about my commitment to education, development of leadership, and application of a diverse set of communication strategies. Raising two healthy explorers of this world required a lot of thinking out of the box and establishing a strong partnership with their co-parent. As a Canadian born to a Greek father and a Malaysian mother, and who grew up in Brazil, I am naturally comfortable in environments with a diversity of knowledge, culture and opinions. During my 22 years as a doctor, I have worked in sectors as diverse as large rehabilitation centers, community primary care units, and in private practice. I have also served as a manager in a primary health care facility and as a supervisor of medical undergraduate students, always in transdisciplinary environments. In addition to extensively practicing family medicine, I have also completed a residency program in sports and exercise medicine and I received specialized training in acupuncture and in pain management. I was awarded a Master's degree in sciences from the University of Porto, in Portugal (São João Hospital) with a thesis titled "Electroacupuncture: History, Current Overview, and Future Perspectives."Within the Lucy Montoro Institute, the largest rehabilitation institute in Latin America, where I worked for over ten years, I was one of the editors of a project that projected the institution as a reference in rehabilitation of patients affected by Covid-19. I also conceived and mediated a non-violent communication program for the institute's doctors, and I collaborated with projects that saved tens of thousands of dollars through seizure reduction and rational disposal of hospital waste.In my free time, I love practicing sports and contemplating nature.
