Mount Auburn Hospital is a Harvard Medical School teaching hospital that was founded in 1886. Over the years, generations of committed individuals have dedicated their careers to achieving the vision of being the best community teaching healthcare system in the Boston area. As an Internal Medicine Resident, I focused on providing quality care and optimal treatment for a diverse patient population in both ambulatory and inpatient medical clinical settings. I saw myself and my father in the patients and families that I met. I was able to invest my whole self in those conversations and in the care that I provided. And nothing was wasted.

Morgan Lewis is a global law firm with 25+ offices across five continents. The main offering includes services in the areas of litigation, financial investments, intellectual property and labor and employment affairs. As a Litigation Associate, I represented corporate entities in connection with federal criminal investigations and prosecutions related to alleged violations of various federal criminal statutes. I provided legal advice to clients and prepared them to approach and argue cases in court related to family law and criminal law matters, including death penalty appellant seeking relief.This was a wonderful educational and professional experience for me. The work was challenging and sophisticated and I received great mentoring and benefitted from having clear work expectations. At Morgan Lewis I also came to appreciate the power of advocacy and the importance of being able to communicate complex ideas and themes to different audiences through a variety of pro-bono experiences.

The Bar Foundation supports a highly skilled network of public interest nonprofits that provide legal services to Philadelphia's most vulnerable populations. As a Fellow on loan from Morgan Lewis I advocated for public health policy initiatives at the Pennsylvania Health Law Project on behalf of low-income and uninsured persons before executive level federal and state health care administrators. I helped develop various legal strategies for providing solutions for communities at risk, including patients with HIV, empowering the most vulnerable populations in our society.

Established in 1983, Phillips Brooks House Association (PBHA’s) STRIDE Community Service Scholars Program (formerly known as Stride Rite) supports students of diverse economic and social backgrounds as they become leaders in their communities, both as undergraduates and beyond. As a Stride-Ride Fellow, I worked with health policy officials and primary care practitioners in the revision of nutritional guidelines for pregnant women and lactating mothers in Guyana, South America, while conducting research on breastfeeding patterns and infant nutrition.My experiences as a Bar Foundation Fellow have left a lasting impression on me as a professional, and as a person. Fresh out of law school I was constantly reminded of what I didn’t know and what I needed to improve. I learned how to tackle problems in a disciplined and strategic way, became a effective communicator, and learned how to balance my intense drive with humility and empathy.
