Antonis Argyros (Αντώνης Αργυρός) is a Professor of Computer Science at the Computer Science Department (CSD), University of Crete (UoC) and a researcher at the Institute of Computer Science (ICS), Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (FORTH) in Heraklion, Crete, Greece. He received a B.Sc. degree (1989), an M.Sc. degree (1992) and a Ph.D. degree (1996) in Computer Science from CSD-UoC. He has been a postdoctoral fellow at the Computational Vision and Active Perception Laboratory at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, Sweden. His current research interests fall in the areas of computer vision and pattern recognition, 3D reconstruction, image motion and tracking, with emphasis on human body pose and shape analysis and on the recognition of human activities and gestures. He is also interested in applications of computer vision in the fields of robotics and smart environments. In these areas, he has published more than 250 papers in scientific journals and refereed conference proceedings, and has delivered more than 60 invited and keynote talks in international events, universities and research centres. Antonis Argyros has served as a GC of ECCV'10, as an AE for ECCV'16, BMVC'17, '18, '19, ICCV'19, and FG'19, as a co-organizer of HANDS'15, '17 and '18, as a PC of ICVS'19, as an AE for ICPR'18, ICRA'16, '17, '18, IROS'16, '17, '18 and as an AE of EUSIPCO'17. He also serves as an AE for the CVIU Journal, as a member of the Advisory Board of the IET IP journal. He has served as a reviewer in more than 35 journals and as a reviewer/TPC member of more than 65 conferences in computer vision, computer graphics, robotics and related disciplines. Antonis Argyros is a faculty member of the Brain and Mind interdisciplinary graduate program, Chairman of the Postgraduate Studies Committee of CSD-UoC, Chairman of the Scientific Council of ICS-FORTH, Deputy Chair of CSD-UoC, Deputy Member of the Board of Directors of ERCIM and a member of its Strategy Task Group.
