Jewish Teen Foundations, a program of the SF-based Jewish Community Federation, trains high school students into young, responsible grant-makers and Jewish change agents. Through the course of an academic year, teens uncover the meaning of tzedakah through the experience of serving as Board Members of an operating foundation. Each year, the teens identify their mission, and together vet organizations, learning to be effective young change-makers and dedicated Jewish philanthropists. Curriculum includes up-to-date fundraising strategy, RFP process, mentoring and leadership, consensus-building, grant-making, and strategic Jewish philanthropic training. Jewish Teen Foundations is a three-tiered program that trains first year board members, 2nd year Leadership Council members who mentor new members and lead monthly board meetings, and our Alumni Council - for continued leadership engagement and training through high school and beyond. Additional responsibilities include:• Create a supportive group dynamic and foster positive relationships among the board• Facilitate weekly meetings with a focus on leadership development for second year board members• Develop relationships with local schools (public and private), Jewish organizations, and synagogues to identify strong candidates for program recruitment• Recruit diverse pool of Jewish teens• Organize annual community service project and end-of-year Grant Celebration• Serve as liaison between wide variety of stakeholders, including parents and Advisory Committee
