I get a kick out of dressing up other people’s ideas. Color, typography, imagery, text –they (should) all work in harmony to dress a specific idea, and my job is to make sure these ideas are dressed appropriately for every occasion. Sometimes that means I help build visual identity systems from scratch and other times I help repair a worn out system. I do this through a fun juggling act of: design research, mock ups, typographic hierarchies, layouts, illustrations, color theory, verbal presentations, several cups of coffee, and lots of empathy.At the root of it all, I help communicate ideas in order to make connections with people. After all, design is a tool best used to establish bridges. This could take form as a “cool” t-shirt aimed to connect young adults with computer coding summer camps or a marketing campaign aimed to help people find useful products or services. I’ve worked with entrepreneurs, freelancers, agencies, start ups, and corporations of every size. At the end of the day, they all wish to be understood–they want communicate something important to their audience. It is my job to make sure their message gets across and looks good doing it.
