I was in charge of Tecnotree's software product engineering in Finland. As part of a business transaction, I was leading the transformation of the proprietary Nokia R&D team onto a service delivery team at Accenture. The transformation covered numerous practical process changes as well as cultural and mindset related changes. Leading an organization through a transformation was a great professional growth and learning opportunity.

I was leading a large-scale agile R&D program assigned to develop a new smartphone software platform generation for Nokia. This was a major exercise both from program planning and execution perspective as the program was distributed geographically to several continents and consisted of dozens of sub projects.During the program, also a major R&D process related change was introduced as enterprise level agile product development process renewal - one of the first large-scale SAFe framework implementations in the industry - was piloted and institutionalized into operational use successfully. This learning experience has later helped me in development of lean software R&D processes and practises and dealing with transformational challenges.

I was the accountable program manager for a global, large-scale agile R&D program developing a new version of the smartphone software platform and mobile phones' production software on top of the new platform. The software developed during the program was used in several globally top-selling mobile devices in 2008-2009.The program succeeded well in terms of schedule and business targets.

In addition to acting as a researcher, I recruited a small team of researchers and led research projects. I gained personally deep understanding on open source technologies and community based innovation ecosystems and high-availability Linux server architectures.

Acting as Head of R&D for a new venture with an ambitious business agenda on the area of mobile corporate communications. I led a 100+ persons R&D unit developing a system platform using low-cost PC servers and new Voice over IP standards. The concept was novel and technically challenging, and the product was targeted to new market segments. Despite the challenges, the system product was finished - unfortunately not reaching commercial success though. Some of the skills gained, intellectual property and technology assets were later utilized in other contexts.I learned a lot about corporate IT domain, new technologies and collaboration with technology suppliers.
