About Ariana Vargas
I am one of the 46% of Americans who lives with mental illness. I was born in Costa Rica to a father with schizophrenia, am the mother of an autistic son, and live with diagnosed anxiety disorder and panic attacks. I was CEO and founder of STIGMA, a mental health app Google named, “2022’s Best App for Good” and one of the “7 Best Apps of the Year.”I am an award-winning documentary filmmaker and have spent most of my career developing and nurturing brands for startups to Fortune 300s with a passionate focus on employer branding and culture, corporate philanthropy, and social justice. I have appeared on television, radio, and conference stages speaking about social impact, storytelling, and mental health, and now lead brand strategy for Populous, the global design firm responsible for some of the most inspiring pieces of architecture in sports and live entertainment. We exist to facilitate reciprocal social connection, which is proven to be one of the most powerful ways to combat loneliness.We use video storytelling to attract the 60-80% of people living with treatable mental illness who don't seek treatment, and give them easy on ramps to resources that can help them thrive.
