Hello,My name is Ariana. Many individuals refer to me Ari. I am a non-traditional student and I have been in the veterinary field most of my life. I have a niche for teaching students, especially those that desire to explore veterinary science careers. Seeking rising leaders is a special part of my journey to veterinary school. Mentoring others to believe in themselves, as well as their professional and scholastic abilities is a rewarding experience. In turn, the connections I foster continue to inspire me to keep an open mind about my own educational and career goals. I believe that I am a servant leader paving the way for myself and others in veterinary medicine.

Honors InternAl-Marah Equine Center Experiment Station Jan 2022 - PresentUnited StatesWhen I am not working on the farm, I get to conduct groundbreaking equine parasitology research and participate in severe equine asthma research. Making connections with other laboratories to order materials and gain support is one of the smaller rewarding parts of my position, On a weekly basis, I perform fecal data collection from the horses on our farm, as well as draft excel spreadsheets and document quarterly reflections upon experience. Reading peer reviewed articles regarding these topics support my preparation process for my Honors Thesis topic and essay and ultimately, veterinary school.

Equine Care TechnicianAl-Marah Equine Center Dec 2021 - PresentUnited StatesAt the Al-Marah Equine Center, I perform equine husbandry that takes place on a breeding farm including pre and post birthing tasks. I assist in patient care and monitoring, plus any additional medical support for seventy-five horses. In addition, I feed horses their forage, grain, and ration balancers, while ensuring that horses have plenty of fresh water. Responding directly to the research veterinarian and research coordinator on the property is a vital part of my job. While completing these tasks, I also educate students how to be mindful when working with horses and how to complete tasks on a farm.
