I am a land system scientist and practitioner dedicated to advancing transformative solutions at the intersection of human well-being and environmental change. Through my work with the Global Land Programme, I strive to foster understanding and action at the interface of science and society, while enhancing the capacity of the global environmental change research community to develop collaborative solutions together with societal partners towards sustainable futures.As a collaborative problem solver, I excel at stepping into unfamiliar settings, assessing challenges, empowering communities and collaborators around common goals, and facilitating actionable strategies. With extensive experience supporting participatory, community-based processes to secure livelihoods and environments, I am equally skilled at convening high-level fora and activities towards the design of effective, solutions-oriented policies for addressing challenges in the Anthropocene.I serve as the Executive Officer of the Global Land Programme and hold an appointment as Research Associate Professor in the Department of Geographical Sciences at the University of Maryland, College Park. My research focuses on telecoupling (distal connections) across socio-ecological systems, land tenure, forest governance and recovery, and climate change adaptation and mitigation policies on land in the broader context of global climate change policies and development.
