Awarded NAPIL/Equal Justice Works and Duke Law Public Interest Law Foundation grants, I worked with this legal services organization in Santa Fe and on the Santa Ana Pueblo in New Mexico. I prepared and argued administrative agency hearings, performed legal research in for Indian Child Welfare Act and water rights matters, handled intake procedures, and staffed the legal helpline.

Supporting the Founder/Executive Director, I researched, analyzed, and designed policies and programs aiding New York City's substance-abusing and mentally ill homeless population. I also wrote grant applications to fund residential, employment, and medical/psychiatric services.

Algonquin Park, Ontario, Canada

I guided campers, ages six to fifteen, on canoe camping trips that lasted from two to fifteen days in Ontario's Algonquin Provincial Park. I also taught canoeing and various outdoor survival skills, including preparing sustainable, “no trace” camps, building fires, safely interacting with wild animals, and cooperating and successfully communicating with peers.
