As a fire ecologist on the natural resources team, I work with fire planners, GIS specialists, watershed scientists, and restoration ecologists nationally throughout SWCA to deliver creative solutions to our clients. Together we create reclamation plans, wildfire mitigation plans, community wildfire protection plans, and post-fire response and recovery tools for federal, county, municipal, and private clients.

I work in the horticultural therapy program for struggling young adults. I work in a team of five to six guides to offer a clinical and holistic approach to treatment. I facilitate lessons about gardening, sustainable living skills, and Hawaiian culture. My number one priority is to demonstrate sound judgement in regards to risk management, safety, and supervision of students. I also provide space for therapeutic conversation in group settings or with a few students at a time. Most recently, I have moved up to the role of Wellness Guide. This means that I have the additional responsibility of the students' health. Overall, I help the students follow the instructions from our doctors at Pacific Quest.I was also awarded the role of Aina guide. This means that I help oversee our gardens and the projects that go on within them. Every week I walk the gardens and make a project list for the students and my fellow guides. I also lead 'Aina council every week to update the community on progress in the garden.

I am a positive environmental and cultural role model, providing natural and cultural history education relevant to Yellowstone, as well as teaching the curriculum designed for Discovery Adventures. I guide groups of 10-15 students, with a co-leader, through exciting and challenging adventure activities. The trips are both mentally and physically challenging for leaders and participants. I aim to be a positive influence on the participants, an inspirational role model, devoted to supporting student growth and education throughout the trip and creating a safe, fun, and non-competitive environment in which the students can thrive. This summer I will be hiking, biking, kayaking, rafting, and zip-lining with my participants!
