I led early product development of novel technologies supporting learning and teaching. This resulted in the initial version of Minerva's live video-based classroom, collaborative curriculum authoring and management platform, and degree planning and auditing tools. I worked with the amazing Minerva academic team to imagine what technologies could be developed in order to achieve this extraordinary educational vision. This generally involved designing, coding, and evaluating functional prototypes of immersive learning venues.

I headed the company's R&D efforts, leading a research-based, experiment-driven approach to building the company’s web platform for collaborative learning. I identified promising techniques and models from the statistics research community and used these to build algorithms for adaptive assessment and adaptive instruction and worked with school districts to design pilots and run efficacy studies. I published papers on our novel research in peer-reviewed conferences, and hosted workshops on related topics.

I designed a web-based platform for testing hypotheses about a novel game-based approach for motivating learning among peers, and used this platform to collect and analyze experimental data from 15,000 participants.
