In my work as a Research Assistant for the Department of Government and Legal Studies, I onduct literature reviews for faculty research projects and ensure faculty papers align with journal-specific standards. I also irect quantitative, methods-based projects, locating, cleaning, coding, and analyzing large data sets on diverse topics such as U.S. union membership, discussions of the judiciary in Congress, and Chinese local government expenditures. Moreover, I examine and restructure syllabi for all course levels to include the latest literature and strengthen classroom discussion. My other duties include facilitating eight guest speaker events each semester, including publicity and visitor scheduling and implementing new events for prospective and admitted students to learn about Government major, promoting department culture and key skills.

I have also evaluated sample lessons on their engagement and organization, providing written input to the department chairs on finalists.

As a Special Projects Assistant for the Office of the Registrar at Bowdoin, I worked to create a summer-based advising model for incoming first-year students to the College (for implementation in summer 2024). To do so, I researched first-year student advising/registration programs of COFHE peer schools and spoke to students at those institutions about the implementation and success of their schools' systems. Finally, I presented my findings to the College Registrar and analyzed proposed advising and registration models for Bowdoin with Office of the Registrar and Division of Academic Affairs.On the Working Group that continued this work through the 2023-2024 academic year, I worked to devise interactive platform for incoming students to explore Bowdoin’s curriculum and select courses in consultation with deans, faculty, and Academic Affairs staff, continuing work from summer role with the Office of the Registrar. I also lead focus groups to solicit student feedback on proposed models, report findings to the working group and broader faculty.

On the committee, I reviewed and provided peer perspective on student petitions concerning academic standing, grading options, and transfer credit. I also discussed and advocated for students on academic policy and precedent with the Dean of Students, the College Registrar, and faculty.

At Centercourt Tennis Academy (CTA), I manage all aspects of customer relations at events, including resolution of disputes involving players and parents to ensure a respectful competition atmosphere at over 100 USTA and Centercourt junior tournaments. I have also introduced an online scoring system at Centercourt, including facilities management and scheduling. Moreover, I have scripted and produced training videos for Centercourt employees on match conflict resolution and scoring system use.

I also developed new survey topics and a routine production schedule for three data-driven pieces per term. For much of my first year, I was the Orient's correspondent to the weekly student government meetings. I have also written extended pieces on larger issues concerning campus culture and history as part of the Enterprise Team.

During my internship at Daily Record, I shadowed Ed Forbes, Senior Editor for News and Engagement, as well as other members of the news team at Daily Record. This shadow experience consisted of attending the daily morning and afternoon staff meetings, where I witnessed the process of constructing both digital and print newspapers and gained valuable insights into the marketing aspects of the journalism industry. When not shadowing Ed and his team, I interviewed fellow students, high school administrators, and college admissions officers for an opinion piece on the rise of the test-optional movement in college admissions. I followed up on this article with a video panel of high school juniors and seniors about the pandemic high school experience and hopes for the years to come.
