Library Page
CurrentThis is a 15-hour-a-week part-time role for Sno-Isle Libraries. I am part of a team composed of a dozen other Pages, and we report to the Page Supervisor. We work alongside the PSA (Public Services Assistant) team to ensure the library continues to run smoothly, particularly as we return to pre-pandemic levels of service. My role as a Page involves the following tasks, most of which I do every shift:- Shelve items in their proper locations using their respective organizational systems (for instance, the Dewey Decimal System for nonfiction books).- Shelf-read assigned sections to ensure every item is properly organized by number, author, and/or title.- Complete RTF (Request to Fill). This process involves finding items on our shelves that patrons have put on hold, scanning the items' barcodes, and putting in the item the appropriate transit or hold paper slip.- Assist patrons by either helping them directly (such as taking them to the section they are looking for) or by bringing them to someone who can better help them (such as a PSA for help with the printers).- Report egregiously misshelved items to my supervisor. I report an average of 60+ items a month.- Replace broken DVD cases with new cases.- Replace book tape that is no longer sticking.- Put items that are ready for pick up on the hold shelves.- Refill book displays, particularly in the children's room.- Maintain general library cleanliness by regularly facing the shelves (making sure all the books are tight together and at the edge of the shelves).- Put damaged books in the Review bin.- Find items that are marked as missing.- Help with the yearly inventory of all items.- Helped train a new Page.- Completed training for EDI (Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) and anti-racism/anti-bias, intellectual freedom, harassment prevention, information security, using Polaris, and other safety training.
