My portfolio focused on specialty, niche, and dislocated risk. Casualty treaty products spanned General Liability (primary/excess), Products Liability, Professional Lines (D&O, E&O, EPLI), Workers Comp, and Auto. Property treaty included structured transactions, low-Cat MGAs, Crop/Dairy, and other specialty niches. Both Casualty and Property focused on specialist MGAs with deep expertise and/or an opportunistic appetite that takes advantage of supply-demand imbalance; for instance, we were the #2 global reinsurer for Cannabis. At the end of 2023, the 2021-2022 treaty years in my portfolio were >50% developed and performing several points better than priced. With my teams, we instilled entrepreneurial focus on specialist classes with relentless underwriting discipline and emphasis on over-the-cycle profitability.

Leadership roles included Head of Global Insurance Strategy practice, co-lead of Insurance Risk practice, co-lead of Insurance Underwriting practice. In 2011, I co-founded Ingenuity, McKinsey’s insurance Advanced Analytics & Artificial Intelligence team. Ingenuity includes data scientists, analysts, and translators, backed by McKinsey’s proprietary analytics platforms, to build and execute analytics applications for P&C and Life insurance companies. My clients included P&C insurance companies, Life/Annuity companies, Reinsurers, and a variety of other industry participants: Brokers, TPAs, Insurtech, and Public Sector. Within Commercial P&C, I focused on underwriting turnaround and transformation. In addition to insurance, my clients included retail banking, payments, and fintech companies. My experience spanned several regions globally, including the London Market and Europe. I was part of McKinsey’s Pittsburgh, Brussels, Dubai, and Lagos (Nigeria) offices. I was the recipient of the Inspirational Leadership Award in Pittsburgh in 2012 and 2018.
