The IoT Data Broker is an AWS-based central data service for IoT data from a wide variety of sources (machines, plants, vehicles, etc.) and offers both past data and subscriptions to existing data sources. Data subscribers are proactively informed about newly received IoT information and consume it directly in their applications (pattern: publish/subscribe). With data sources harmonized and IoT data easily orderable, their analysis and use for use cases is greatly simplified and their implementation accelerated. In addition, the IoT Data Broker helps the Digital Twin to generate higher-value information and additional knowledge through targeted supply of data.

The IoT Thing Lifecycle App is an offline-enabled Android mobile application for equipping physical assets with NFC and barcode tagged component parts according to GS1 (GIAI) and GTIN for the purpose of lifecycle management. It is able to support mobile professionals in assembling IoT hardware according to differently defined equipment plans for telematics, sensors, actuators and synchronizes equipment information with DB IoT Cloud. The app has been successfully used at DB Cargo since 2018 and has since enabled the equipment of the entire freight cargo fleet (80.000+) with digital technology as well as the schematic description of digital twins.
