After retirement in March 2020 I am a honorary advisor at the Natural History Museum in Rotterdam. If you have questions on our collection of Fishes (Pisces), barnacles (Cirripedia) or Scaphopods (Mollusca, Scaphopoda) please contact me.Until March 2020 I worked as a strategic advisor / projectmanager at Concernstaff of the community of De Ronde Venen in Utrecht Province, The Netherlands. My goal is to improve use and quality of (Big) data within our organisation (consisting of 250 co-workers, working for a population of 44.000 people). (Big) data analysis forms the base for longterm decision making.Earlier, from 1977 to 1999 I was also employed by the City council of Rotterdam. Several years I was active as a social worker for homeless, drugs- and alcohol addicted and people with so called “double diagnosis”. From 1999 to 2001 I worked as research associate at the Centre for Social Studies of the City of Rotterdam. In this period I was involved in several studies on the terrain of poverty and social exclusion, like a quality of life study on street sleepers; the effect of long term poverty under disabled and unemployed people. From 2001 – 2005 I worked as an advisor at BMC Business Group for local governments throughout Holland.From 2005 to 2007 I worked for de City of Rotterdam; as research coordinator for the department of Youth, Education & Civil Society. I represened this department in the research programme board of the City of Rotterdam.My spare time I fill with zoogeographic and systematic studies on Scaphopoda. This is a group of marine mollusca. In the Natural History Museum of Rotterdam I am honorary curator of the Pisces (Fishes) department.
