I recently graduated Cum Laude with a dual B.S. degree in Environmental Science and Resource Economics at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. As a Commonwealth Honors College Scholar with Greatest Distinction, I completed my thesis on the economic feasability of dual-use solar. My interdisciplinary path aimed to learn comprehensively about our accelerating climate-change crisis and the economics of the renewable energy transition. I have an unique interdisciplinary perspective that allows me to approach complex problems with analytical and creative thinking. I have gained valuable experience in planning community solar development during a year-long pilot course at UMass, where I collaborated with government liaisons, conducted surveys and infrastructure assessments, and delivered a solar resource and infrastructure plan for the Town of Deerfield, MA. I have also worked as a research intern for various projects and initiatives related to sustainability, energy, and business, where I applied my skills in partner development, team coordination, and project management. I am proficient in topics pertaining to renewable energy, local government, and economics, and I am eager to apply my knowledge and skills to contribute to the advancement of clean energy solutions. Other interests of mine include biodiversity, biomimicry solutions, food as medicine, movement (yoga, strength training), thrifting, and art. Feel free to reach me at: arielhwaldman@gmail.com
