About Ariel Meadow Stallings

Bridging the gap between technology and independent publishing, my career has been about empowering folks and helping them connect via storytelling. With a foundational role in developing strategic content for my own publications for decades, my focus has shifted in recent years to advocating for independent publication editors, amplifying their voices and needs. This mission has been driven by my history as a digital publishing pioneer, scaling my publishing company from zero to over 100 million readers. My work weaves together strategic editorial projects, business development, and publisher growth, all with a hands-on approach in managing cross-platform product strategies. The transition from publisher to product manager has been marked by my ability to leverage editorial insights to influence product development, building bridges with publication editors, and fostering programs that cultivate high-quality content.I'm an enthusiastic culture builder, a dork for the details, and a champion of publishers, editors, and content creators.

  • Microsoft
    Marketing Manager
    Microsoft Feb 2007 - Nov 2009
Worked in the Staffing Marketing department, using then-nascent social media to show the world that working at Microsoft could be awesome. I did this through Microspotting.com, a public relations blog dedicated to covering the unexpected awesomeness inside the supposedly-evil empire. I wrote, photographed, and produced weekly blog features for Microspotting, and managed marketing and promoting the site. I was focused on giving Microsoft a conversational and accessible voice, which was a significant challenge given the size and tone of the company during this era of its history. My position was eliminated as part of a wave of layoffs when I was 8mo pregnant; I started a publishing company with the severance 🤘
