Recently, I managed the production, design and editing of the Municipal Guide to Cannabis Legalization and the Rural Challenges, National Opportunity report. I develop and execute communications strategies, write and approve social media content, help craft key messages, reports and submissions, and work with policy experts to hone and disseminate their message.

Edited the union’s newsletter, Our Union Voice, which is mailed to the homes of 190,000 union members. I also put together a weekly e-newsletter, in addition to acting as a media relations officer when needed and writing and editing material for PSAC’s website. Most recently, I was the lead social media expert in the union’s national office. As a member of the union’s Communications, Political Action and campaigns team, I was involved in the planning and execution of several campaigns, including: Third Choice, We Are All Affected and the campaign to stop the closure of Veterans’ Affairs offices. I was also part of a crack team that organized a protest on Parliament Hill on very short notice in 2008, in support of a coalition government. Facilitated workshops for union members. This included developing a workshop on social media for the National Women’s Conference in 2009 and training a group of 20 facilitators to deliver it to more than 500 women. I have also facilitated workshops on LGBTQ issues for the National Human Rights Committee and on social media/campaign planning for a range of different audiences.

I coordinate national political campaigns at the Public Service Alliance of Canada. This includes working with a network of internal and external stakeholders, developing key messages, writing op/eds, briefing leaders for media interviews, managing contracts with external content producers and developing launch strategies for national campaigns. The two most active campaigns that I am currently working on call for the establishment of a universal child care system and the re-opening of Veterans Affairs offices across Canada. I am also working on strategies to preserve sick leave for federal government workers and to raise awareness about the nature of precarious employment in Canada.
