Dr. Stavchansky is a multi-disciplinary professional. As a practitioner of digital media for more than a decade, he works in all phases of production and has carried the titles of designer, developer, creative director, and educator. An Austin native and first generation American, his cross cultural influences, diverse industry experience and extensive education inform his analytical, creative, and technical work.Currently, he works to design interactive media products, code software applications, produce and direct video content, and guide creative and technical professionals toward delivering innovative solutions.Arie completed his Ph.D. in Digital Media Studies and Production at The University of Texas at Austin. For his dissertation he researched how video production techniques affect viewers’ trust in television news. He also holds a Master of Design in Interaction Design from Carnegie Mellon University and a B.S. in Radio, Television, Film from UT Austin. After completing his Ph.D., he worked as a lecturer educating graduate and undergraduate students.His industry experience spans across a range of brand and studio sizes. He has worked on shipped products for well-known companies such as Nintendo, Warner Brothers, Sony, Dell and Cisco Systems. Agencies and studios he has worked with include Chicago-based Digital Kitchen, Los Angeles-based Mac Guff, New York-based Radical Media, Sony Online Entertainment and Seamless Entertainment. FounderDataclay Jul 2014 - PresentPittsburgh, Pennsylvania, UsDeveloping state-of-the-art video customization software for motion graphic designers and post-production professionals to easily customize professionally produced video templates using external data sets. As founder I undertake duties ranging from product development, business development, marketing, community outreach, and sales. I architected, implemented, and quality assured Dataclay’s premiere product, Templater, as an extension to Adobe Systems’ After Effects (AE) application. I used the following languages to build the product: C++, JavaScript, ExtendScript, bash scripts, and Visual Basic. Integrated the C++ code with Adobe After Effects’ SDK and cross-compiled using XCode and VisualStudio. I integrated Google Sheets’ API into the product so users can pipe data from their Google Drive spreadsheets into their video compositions. -

For this role I managed three developers towards various feature implementations against aggressive milestone dates. I architected and implemented various front-end features, and was solely responsible for integrating external electronic health record (EHR) systems data from Greenway Medical's PrimeSUITE applications for the back-end. The stack included Google's AngularJS framework, LESS, and HTML5 for the front-end, and Symfony (PHP) with MySQL for the back-end.

Co-Founder & CtoL U M I N 8 M E Aug 2011 - Jun 2014Architected, designed, developed, implemented, and QA'd testing a cloud-based platform for rendering High Definition video content for use in various contexts such as video e-cards, advertisements, viral messages, and video sharing applications. With an initial investment of $100K in seed funding from private investors, I handled application and code architecture, implementation, application design, and video template production. As a full-stack developer, I implement the server-side application using PHP, Node.js, MySQL, and MS Batch Language in a MS Windows Server environment. For implementing the client application users interact with, I use HTML5, CSS, Javascript / jQuery. I integrated Gigya’s Social SignOn plug-in within the front-end app to facilitate registration and login for social media network users. Code maintained in a GitHub repository that I administer. Aside from coding and technical development, I directed and produced video templates for the platform using Adobe AfterEffects (AE) and make heavy use of Adobe’s scripting API for AE.

Most recently, I guided the marketing strategy and rebranding effort for Financial Transaction Services, LLC when they raised $50 million in funding from FTV Capital. Worked directly with the President and Chief Operating Officer of FTS to gather requirements for their marketing collateral and to develop specification documents for their online presence. In addition to being the lead developer, information architect and UX designer for their website, I directed a team consisting of a copywriter, print designer, web designer, and art director to launch FTS’ new brand on time and within budget.

Senior Web DeveloperMutual Mobile Mar 2013 - Jan 2014Austin, Texas, UsWorked within an agile team of developers, designers, and project managers to create mobile applications for corporate clients such as Softcard and Greenway Medical Technologies, Inc. I participated in the implementation of end-user help content within the Softcard digital wallet app (acquired by Google) on Android. I implemented portions of the user interface to Greenway Medical’s electronic health records application, PrimeMOBILE, for Windows 8 tablets and desktops. Leveraged Javascript and Microsoft’s WinJS libraries to code the app within an MVC framework and built with MS Visual Studio 2013. Worked directly with Greenway’s API team to debug request and response objects as new features became available. Worked with designers to ensure implementation met design specs, and worked with QA Analysts to ensure integrity of implementation. Used Atlassian’s JIRA to track bugs and issues, and used both git and Microsoft's Team Foundation Server for version management. Attend daily standup SCRUM meetings with internal team and client. -
Contract User Interface ProgrammerSony Online Entertainment Oct 2010 - Jan 2011San Diego - Us | Tokyo - Jp, UsImplemented a significant portion of the user interface for the D.C. Universe Online MMO video game. Within a development team, I implemented twelve unique areas of the game's user interface for this AAA title from Warner Bros. Interactive and Sony Online Entertainment. As required by the Scaleform GFx middleware, I coded the UIs in ActionScript 2. Among other tasks, I developed class libraries for implementing consistent user interactions across different UIs and for handling various input devices including keyboard, mouse, and gamepad controllers. I worked with localization teams to insert appropriate code for deploying the game in five languages. Dealt with Perforce as the code versioning system, and Microsoft Team Foundation for bug tracking and communication with QA. Attended daily SCRUM meetings with team members, creative directors, and producers. I worked directly with designers, artists, C++ programmers, and producers to ship the game for launch in early January of 2011. -
