The Galleria mall host two US department stores, a Macy’s and a Bloomingdale’s, in addition to 400 other retail stores, 145 restaurants and cafés, and a 20-screen cinema complex.The project comprises nine stories of development four levels below Al Maryah Island's elevated road system and five stories above; while to the project's rear will be two large bridge spans linking across to the existing car parks structures for the Sowwah Square and The Galleria development.Client: Gulf RelatedConsultant: Aecom /Thornton Tomasetti/ WSP•My role was successful management for the delivery of the external infrastructure and landscaping works over 2 levels adjacent to LIVE commercial buildings, infrastructure and highways. This Includes the management and planning of multiple subcontractors from pre tender through to design and construction ensuring that works are progressing ahead of program, safely, on budget and to a very good quality standard. •Also, included in my role was the successful management in the erection of 2no. Pedestrian Bridges, each spanning over 50metres and weighing 310tonnes each, using a 200T crane set up on a LIVE highway. Further complicated by the fact the crane set up was on a bridge over an Island so planning and delivering the strict temporary works procedures during the steel bridge erection. My role again involved the constant communication with the surrounding island consumers and municipality from planning through to the final bridge steel erection and façade works.
