I believe that all patients and their caregivers should receive the right care that aligns with their values and preferences, draws upon the best evidence available, and contributes to a sustainable healthcare delivery system. Integrating backgrounds in internal medicine, palliative care, medical oncology, and healthcare quality administration, I am passionate about being a problem solver, strategically deploying the right skills (e.g., quality improvement, thought leadership, and health services research) and experiences (e.g., academia, non-profit, entrepreneurship) to put patients and their caregivers as the north star of our efforts while creating and maximizing value to all stakeholders in the health ecosystem.As the inaugural Chief Patient Officer of the American Cancer Society, I lead a team of 800 dedicated women and men in the Patient Support Pillar, passionate about providing solutions to the complex problems impeding access to high quality cancer prevention, detection and care for patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals. The scope is global and across the cancer continuum, from cancer prevention through end of life care and survivorship. The ACS provides a life-changing service to nearly 80 million people each year globally, powered by a unified mission to end cancer as we know it, for everyone.
