Containers are isolated runtime environment complete with various dependencies and libraries for applications to run to run irrespective of the host system version / specifications. Docker containers wrap up a piece of software in a complete filesystem that contains everything it needs to run: code, runtime, system tools, and system libraries – anything you can install on a server. This guarantees that it will always run the same, regardless of the environment it is running in.• Researched various threats to securing Docker container platforms by simulating threat scenarios and identifying system vulnerabilities in a team of 5 developers and collaborated with teams across business groups for feedback. • Designed a C application to read the ELF header of an executable and print its interpreter and identify the syscalls in Linux 3.19.0 kernel which accessed user space pointers and buffers.• Created a secure Docker runtime environment and demonstrated the various researched protection schemes to Data Center Group (DCG) Team from Santa Clara site. • Summarized the results into a detailed specification document as per the vendor requirements.
