The purpose of the creation of Olam Canada was to start with a green field trading operation and culminate a large footstep in the North American continent through strategic investments in upcountry agri-supply chain assets to enable Olam to get a foothold into the Speciality Crops market. This outfit was also created to increase Olam's market reach into North and South America in the Edible Beans and Pulses markets. I moved in to start this operation and generate the roots essential to ground the business in Canada and USA.

As the Head of the Procurement of the Western Region, I had overall responsibility of ensuring low-cost, on time deliveries to 13 factories spread across Maharashtra and Karnataka.In my subsequent role of spear heading the strategic procurement initiatives, I had to deliver on Agroconnect - a b2b portal connecting suppliers to the company, initiating and establishing hedging on the National Commodities and Derivatives Exchange, representing the company and the feed industry on the product committes of NCDEX, establishing steady state relationships with large corporate suppliers to enable lower cost supplies with higher reliability.

The role entailed heading the Plant Materials function and overseeing an organisation that handled raw materials, Intermediates and Finished Goods across the production line.Specific responsibilities included handling material accounting systems, reducing cost of goods by reduction in "normal loss" in production, ERP implementation for the unit and the company overall as a process leader in the MM/SD/WM modules.
