About Ari Cooper
Software/Web Development/IT Applications SpecialistI have a solid foundation of fundamentals in computer science gleaned from the rigorous courses I completed at Willamette University which ranged from typical Data Structures and Analysis of Algorithms classes to Mobile App Development and Machine Learning. I spent most of my time as an undergraduate becoming an expert in object-oriented code using Java, completing simulations and games using the Model-View-Controller architecture. I was also able to learn Matlab, which I used in my Thesis project (Particle Orbit Simulation using Geodesic Equations derived from Einstein's equations), as well as some Python. Since then I have jumped into full stack web development, using the express framework with node and sass on the front end and have experience using vue with boostrap as well. I recently have started learning PHP with Laravel, and database management using PostgreSQL and MySQL.Within IT I also have a large scope of knowledge, but focused mainly on Active Directory, O365, and Microsoft Dynamics NAV Administration, as well as working in retail and office settings troubleshooting hardware or software issues. I have valuable expertise in cannabis retail having spent 6 months budtending before moving to an IT role at the corporate office, where I was exposed to the inner workings of a vertically integrated company in cannabis. I lead the implementation of new POS and maintained existing software, all of which must communicate with the state run METRC seed to sale cannabis tracking system, a partner I have become very familiar with in keeping our API integrations and compliance up to code. As the sole IT Tech employed by the rapidly expanding GW for the first 7 months of my position, I planned new stores, provided support for every department, and worked collaboratively with the numerous camera, alarm, POS, construction, and cannabis software vendors to troubleshoot and efficiently solve problems as they arose. I have continued to provide support, improve workflows, and plan projects throughout the company as I rose to meet the Applications Specialist role.Moving forward I am eager to bring my wide experience gained in the cannabis industry, as well as a solid and flexible foundation of computer science to novel and exciting cannabis tech. I am a fast learner, self-motivated and ready to make a difference in an industry that continues to surprise.
