Arik Johnson is Chairman of research, technology and learning consultancy, Aurora WDC, the professional services firm he founded in 1995, focused on Competitive Intelligence, Corporate Strategy and Market Innovation.After stepping aside as CEO in late 2009, today Arik serves as Managing Director and lead architect at Aurora's R&D lab, intelligence think tank and strategic policy institute, the Centers for Open Reconnaissance (COR). Arik directs hypothesis development for persistent intelligence problems and works with organizations of all kinds to build their performance-driven, organizational reconnaissance apparatus to monitor, detect, interpret and anticipate changes in the business environment to outperform their peers and cope with risks to corporate sustainability.Arik was selected for the international Council of Competitive Intelligence Fellows in 2008, chaired SCIP’s annual international conference (2006), served on its board of directors (2004 - 2006), won SCIP’s Catalyst award (2005), and served as a chapter coordinator, as well as, trustee and development committee chair of the CI Foundation. He has been a prolific author of thought leadership in the field and his writing has focused more recently on synthesizing signals of industry change to drive leadership action and create cultures of entrepreneurship.During the depths of 2020’s COVID-19 pandemic Arik launched the webinar series #CloseTheDistance most recently exploring corporate diversity, equity and inclusion as a competitive advantage through his executive interview segments called #CulturesOfConfidence. His family spends their time together on 40 acres of cropland and forest, cultivating hops for beer brewing, raising chickens, tending honeybees and other amateur agriculture projects.
