During the last years, I have been working with a highly active enzyme, formate dehydrogenase (FDH) as a biocatalyst for carbon dioxide reduction to formate, an alternative green fuel. Since 2015, in my research fellowships and during my PhD I have worked on the optimization of purification processes for FDH and also developed a homologous expression system in Desulfovibrio vulgaris, a model sulfate-reducing anaerobe bacterium. I was also able to produce enzyme variants by site direct mutagenesis and worked in kinetic characterization and spectroscopic analysis, namely EPR. Moreover, I gained also some experience in the use of FDH in electrochemical and photochemical processes.
