Building the next generation of high-performance CMOS biochips for molecular diagnostics (MDx). InSilixa’s mission was to revolutionize near-patient and point-of-care (PoC) MDx markets by creating sample-to-answer RNA/RNA testing products through leveraging its proprietary CMOS fluorescence-based biosensor technologies that offer unprecedented analytical sensitivity and specificity, multiplexing, cost-efficiency, and manufacturability. InSilixa was acquired by Danaher/Cepheid in December of 2021.

• Designed multiple bio-electronics interfaces for IBM’s proprietary silicon-integrated nanopore sequencing platform; and• Developed multiple CMOS-compatible processes for bio-functionalization of standard silicon ICs.

• Managed the Integrated Sensors and Biosensors Laboratory (ISBL) of University of Texas at Austin;• Developed and taught graduate and undergraduate courses; and• Successfully finished multiple research projects related to CMOS bio-ICs, implantable devices and integrated sensors.

• Designed, implemented and successfully tested a transceiver IC for a hand-held spectral-scattering MRI system; and• Developed and empirically demonstrated a fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) based real-time DNA microarrays system.

• Developed charge-based DNA sequencing technology (currently licensed and used in Ion Torrent's Personal Genome Machine); and• Designed, fabricated and tested passive substrates and electrode transducers for the company’s electronic DNA sequencing platform.

• Ph.D. (Supervisor: Thomas H. Lee, Ph.D. Thesis: Integrated Microarrays)• Designed, implemented and successfully tested the first CMOS electrochemical biosensor array (CEBA) system; and • Modeled and empirically verified the noise sources and the signal dynamics of electrochemical biosensors.• M.Sc. (Supervisor: Thomas H. Lee• Designed a varactor-based RF parametric amplifier in standard CMOS processes; and• Designed a 5GHz CMOS RF transceivers for beam-forming antenna arrays.

• Trained as a tactical communication officer as part of Iran’s compulsory military service; and• Managed the electronics testing laboratory of Zolfaghar Tank Factory.
