Autonomy Engineer Ii
CurrentThe Autonomy Engineer II position at Vermeer, which is equivalent in seniority to a senior software engineer, uses my knowledge in embedded engineering, robotics, and autonomous vehicles. Here, I design and develop a set of autonomy modules that can be extended to various machines at Vermeer. • Spearheaded the A2A Localization and Navigation module at Vermeer Corporation, focusing on GNSS systems for autonomous machine operation.• Conducted comprehensive interviews with Terrain Leveler, Pile Driver, and Bale Hawk teams to gather insights on localization and navigation techniques.• Developed a detailed system engineering pre-requirements storyboard, including Mission Statement, Boundary Diagram, ConOps, Stakeholder Diagram, and more, leading to the creation of high-level system engineering requirements.• Facilitated virtual and on-site meetings with GNSS vendors for project proposals, leveraging expertise in GPS, GNSS triangulation, RTK correction, and J1939 messaging for vendor communications.• Additionally took ownership of the Autonomy Safety module within the A2A team, studying ISO standards 17757 and 18497, and creating a design storyboard that integrates functional safety, SOTIF, HARA, and autonomy safety principles.• Guided interns and reviewed C++ code used to develop a ROS2 simulation stack for the A2A team
